Invest in rebuilding the McKenzie River Valley!
The McKenzie Community Land Trust's mission is to support the entire McKenzie River Valley, reaching from the upper river community of McKenzie Bridge, on downstream to Springfield, Oregon.
Affordable Housing:
After the wildfire we have seen the need for affordable housing in the McKenzie Valley increase significantly with only 39% of the lost homes rebuilt four and a half years later and the increased cost of 40% to rebuild a home compared to pre-fire. With MCLT's help, families can apply to purchase our homes and the MCLT will continue to own the land, making it affordable. The family will sign a 99-year lease on the land.
The MCLT's first affordable homeownership neighborhood, the Rose Street Neighborhood, is in the rural, unincorporated town of Blue River. We have already purchased our 2nd parcel planning for another cluster of CLT homes.
Community Development:
Using the land trust model, the MCLT can also assist with commercial development and other public benefit projects. As we work together to rebuild, we need a diverse community that offers housing for everyone, community services and parks, locally owned businesses, and a healthy environment. We are nimble and exploring new community benefit opportunities where we can help.
